23 Jan Dana Point Revitalization Under Attack For Private Interests
IF YOU LOVE DANA POINT, YOU MUST HELP SAVE IT.
As many of you all know, Dana Point has been an underdeveloped city in need of attractions, restaurants, entertainment and more since it was founded. The city planning commission fought long and hard to set forth a plan to improve and clean up the cities downtown district, and finally after years of hard work it was approved in 2014. As we have seen, the city has done a fantastic job with major improvements to the aesthetics of PCH & Del Prado in the heart of our city. Redevelopment has begun, and new developers of restaurants, shops, attractions and more are lining up to be part of this great city.
Now comes the bad news, Our local gem of a restaurant StillWater, is under siege by a shady resident / developer with only personal gain in mind and a vendetta against certain local business owners. Due to his involvement on a neighboring lot that he wants to develop, he has partnered with one cul-de-sac in a neighborhood (The Lantern Bay Estates) which already backs to PCH, and is Inherently extremely noisy due to traffic. This builder and neighborhood wants to see the redevelopment of Dana Point shut down by attacking all outdoor dining and indoor entertainment. Apparently having a patio to eat on and the “noise” of indoor live music is to much to bare when you own a home ON PCH in the heart of a DOWNTOWN DISTRICT……
This “dynamic duo” has went above city jurisdiction to the state Alcohol Beverage Control and has had a cease and desist order placed to the owners of Stillwater banning outdoor dining and entertainment.
This is more than bad news for local residents who enjoy this fantastic restaurants fine outdoor dining and music venue. Even worse, is the financial impact this could have on the employees and families who rely on this income from their restaurant. Jobs are at stake and the city revitalization and quality of life in Dana Point is under attack. If you care about the future of this great city, this petition is the key element towards protecting what growth lies ahead. If our existing restaurants are suffocated, all interest from new business owners looking to setup shop in Dana Point is in tremendous risk. We need to act now and show our support for local businesses and safe development with city wide gain in mind. We cannot let one bad resident builder and cul-de-sac who chose to purchase a home on PCH, ruin the future benefits for the entire city of Dana Point.
